Peptides and Weight Loss Injections in Your 40s: What Women Need to Know

Why This Is Worth Talking About

Over the last little while, I’ve noticed a big shift - not just online.

Yes, it’s all over social media right now… but I’m also hearing about it in my own circle too. Friends, conversations, people I know starting to look into things like weight loss injections and peptides for fat loss, recovery, and even “anti-aging.”

A lot of this is coming up around peptides for fat loss, recovery, and weight loss injections like GLP-1s.

And honestly, I get it.

Fat loss doesn’t feel the same anymore. Recovery takes longer. You can be doing all the right things and still feel like your body isn’t responding the way it used to.

So when something comes along that might help, it’s hard not to be curious.

When it starts showing up everywhere around you, it’s hard not to wonder if you’re missing something.

I’ve been curious too. In fact, I recently consulted with a specialist in Mexico to look into a protocol of stem cells, PRP, and healing peptides like BPC-157 and TB-500 for my own shoulder issues. I’m not just looking at this as a coach; I’m looking at it as a woman in midlife trying to support my own recovery and longevity.

So What Are These, Really?

You’ve probably heard of medications like Ozempic or Wegovy.

You’ve also likely seen peptides being talked about for things like recovery, skin, or overall health.

At a really basic level, your body already uses peptides every single day.

They’re basically like little messengers in your body, helping regulate things like appetite, recovery, and how your body responds to stress or inflammation.

And as we get older, some of those signals don’t work as efficiently as they used to.

So the way I look at it is this…

It’s not that these are doing something completely foreign to your body.

It’s more like they’re supporting or enhancing processes your body is already trying to do… just not as efficiently as it once did.

This is why you’re hearing more about peptides for fat loss and recovery, especially for women in their 40s and beyond.

And that’s a big part of why people are seeing benefits.

Some are finding it easier to manage their appetite.
Some are noticing improvements in recovery or how their body feels.
Some are using them as part of a bigger plan to improve their overall health.

So this isn’t about saying they don’t work.

It’s about understanding what they’re actually helping with… and where they fit into the bigger picture.

Where I Think
women Get Misled

The issue isn’t really the tools themselves.

It’s what start to believe about them.

Because what I’m seeing more and more is this pattern…

Women who feel like they are doing everything right… but they haven’t been doing it long enough, or consistently enough, to actually see it work.

They’ll be consistent for a few weeks, maybe even a month, and then start questioning everything.

“Why isn’t this working?”
“Maybe I need something else.”
“Maybe this is what I’m missing.”

And I get that.

Because in midlife, things do feel slower.
Progress doesn’t feel as obvious.
And it’s easy to start doubting what you’re doing.

So when something comes along that promises to help you get there faster…

Of course it’s appealing and to be clear, using tools to support that process isn’t a bad thing.

But where things start to shift is when those tools replace patience and consistency… instead of supporting them.

Where it starts to feel like the tool is the solution, instead of something that works with what you’re already doing.

And that’s usually where the disconnect happens.

They Don’t Replace What Your Body Actually Needs

None of them replace strength training or help you put on muscle.

None of them teach you how to eat in a way that supports your body.

And none of them create consistency for you.

And in your 40s and beyond, those are the exact things that matter most.

Why This Matters More in Midlife

This is especially important when it comes to weight loss in your 40s, where maintaining muscle becomes a priority. As we get older, we’re already dealing with a natural decline in muscle.

Hormones are shifting.
Recovery is different.
Fat loss is less forgiving than it used to be.

So if you start relying on something that helps you lose weight, but you’re not protecting your muscle at the same time… you could end up smaller, but softer ; lighter, but weaker; and usually more frustrated because it doesn’t feel the way you expected it to.

I see this all the time. The scale goes down, but nothing actually looks or feels better.

Beyond Weight Loss: The Metabolic Picture

It’s also about more than just the scale. Some of us start seeing our fasting blood sugar creep up in midlife, even when our diet is clean. Between shifting hormones and disrupted sleep, our bodies become more stressed and less efficient at managing sugar. This is where these tools can be a massive help, but they only work if you have the muscle mass to 'soak up' that sugar. Without lifting, you're missing the most important part of the metabolic puzzle.

Why Calories and Protein Still Matter

This is a big one, especially with anything that suppresses your appetite.

If you’re using something that makes you less hungry, it can feel like an easy way to eat less.

But that doesn’t mean your body suddenly doesn’t need fuel.

Calories still matter.
Protein still matters.
Food still matters.

Calories are energy.

Your body needs energy to function properly, recover from workouts, maintain muscle, and support your metabolism.

So if the goal becomes “I just won’t eat because I’m not hungry,” you’re creating a whole new set of problems.

Protein drops. Energy drops. Strength drops. Recovery drops.

And now you’re not just losing weight… you’re losing the support system your body actually needs.

Some of these can really rev up your system. If you find your heart rate is up or your sleep is taking a hit, your recovery is going to suffer. This is exactly why you have to double down on the basics, “protein and strength” - to make sure your body isn't burning through muscle while you're trying to get healthy.

How I’m Thinking
About This Right Now

For me, this is where I’m at right now.

I’m still learning.

I’m curious about it, especially when it comes to recovery and how we support our bodies as we age, and I think it’s worth understanding what’s out there instead of just ignoring it.

I do believe a lot of these can help.

Things are evolving. People are learning more. We’re starting to have access to options that weren’t even part of the conversation before.

But at the same time… I know the basics still matter.

The fundamentals are still what make the difference and this is the part that can’t get skipped.

Strength training still needs to be there.
Protein still needs to be there.
Daily movement still needs to be there.

Those are the things that support your body, protect your muscle, and actually create the result most women are looking for.

So if something like this is part of the picture… it should be supporting that foundation.

Not replacing it.

If You’re Considering This

If you’re thinking about trying any of these, I’m not here to tell you not to.

You’re allowed to be curious.
You’re allowed to explore.
You’re allowed to use tools if they make sense for you.

But this is the part that matters…

Don’t skip the basics just because you added something in that you think will do it all.

If anything, you need to lean into them even more because the look and feel most women are actually after in this phase of life doesn’t come from just losing weight.

It comes from building and maintaining muscle.

It comes from structure, consistency, and fueling your body properly.

So yes, use whatever tools you want.

Just don’t expect them to do the job that strength training, proper nutrition, daily movement, and consistency are meant to do.

That part is still yours. And it always will be.

Before You Go

This is just my perspective as a coach who works with women in this stage of life.

Not medical advice. Not a protocol.

Just a reminder that no matter what tools you choose to use in your weightloss journey, the basics still matter and they’re the part that actually makes everything else work better.

If you’re using something like this, or even just thinking about it, and you want to make sure you’re not missing that piece…

that’s what I can help with.
